This tour includes snorkelling and coral viewing from a private semi-submersible at Air Whitsunday’s very own reef location inside the calm waters of Hardy Lagoon. The vessel has an underwater viewing chamber, sun and shade deck areas, along with easy access into the water. Our guests are able to take advantage of snorkelling, while rejuvenating in the refreshing waters amongst ancient coral gardens teeming with marine life.
This adventure at the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park is followed with a relaxing one hour visit to Whitehaven Beach. Frequently voted as one of the world’s top ten beaches, this striking stretch of silica sand on Whitsunday Island is the perfect location to enjoy a drink and some nibblies, explore the beach or take a swim in the crystal clear waters.

Upon arrival you will be greeted by a friendly front office team member. After a quick check in you will be given a video briefing before leaving the terminal to alight your seaplane.
As the aircraft are amphibious you will take off on the airport runway and then commence your scenic flight to Whitehaven Beach. Take in the sights of the surrounding sugar cane fields, Airlie Beach township, Shute Harbour, Long Island, Daydream Island and the Whitsunday Passage before flying between Hook Island and Whitsunday Island. As you approach Whitehaven Beach you will start to see the stunning swirling sands of Hill Inlet. Your pilot will perform aerial work atop of Hill Inlet to capture that picture perfect postcard shot before touching down on the aquamarine waters of Whitehaven Beach for a relaxing one hour visit. Frequently voted as one of the world’s top ten beaches, this striking stretch of silica sand on Whitsunday Island is the perfect location to enjoy a drink and some nibblies, explore the beach or take a swim in the crystal clear waters.
Enjoy your first water take off as you set course for the Great Barrier Reef. Fly over the dark blue Coral Sea before taking in the stunning sights of Bait Reef, Hook and Hardy Lagoon before flying over of stunning Heart Reef.
All tours to this private location are scheduled around low tide; being surrounded by a reef wall, it creates a calm lagoon for the aircraft to land. Guests are able to take advantage of snorkelling, while rejuvenating in the refreshing waters amongst ancient coral gardens teeming with marine life. During low tide, the location is only 2-6 metres deep providing the first time snorkeller with more confidence due to the comfortable conditions, while the more experienced can enjoy the abundance of sea life and coral that the added protection that the reef wall provides.
Say goodbye to the private lagoon as you take off again from the calm waters of Hardy Lagoon and commence the flight back to the airport. On the return flight you get to take in more views of the Great Barrier Reef along with Hayman Island the northern side of Hook Island and the Molle group of islands.
